Tickets on Sale October 17

Members of the North Hills High School Drama Club will present three student-produced one-act plays on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. Each play has a student production team including directors, stage managers, light and sound operators, and promotional team in addition to the cast and crews. Under the supervision of adult staff, the production teams put together all aspects of the shows from rehearsal to performance, providing visions for scenic, costume, and lighting design. 

This year's shows are as follows:

The Old Cookie Shop

“Nellie was a baker because she kneaded the dough.” Sweet Nellie O’Grady is about to lose her cookie shop to the evil banker, Mortimer Whiplash. It’s love at first sight when handsome Harry Goodwell, legal assistant to Whiplash, first casts his eyes on the lovely Nellie. When all seems lost, kindly old Doctor Sullivan reveals a startling secret that saves the day. This melodramatic parody (featuring theatrical tropes and plenty of puns!) takes place in the1880’s.

The A.I. Play

When Eleanor uses a chatbot to write a paper on The Great Gatsby for her, she figures it’s not that big of a deal. But when her chatbot writes the best essay on The Great Gatsby ever, she’s sent to a special school for genius children. Except every other student also used a chatbot to get into the special genius children school. And that school might not be a school, it might just be prison. Now Eleanor has to lead a jailbreak with her friends—can she escape without the help of artificial intelligence?

One Stoplight Town

One Stoplight Town is a story about people from a town so small that you might drive through without taking a second look. But if you stopped for just a moment, you might see a young boy and girl fall in love, a cantankerous grocery store owner coping with change, a son returning home while another thinks about leaving, and a handyman taking it all in while she fixes what is broken. These stories and more are filled with fun characters, lots of humor, plenty of heart and the theme that change comes for us all, whether we are ready or not.

Tickets are $7 each for reserved seating and can be purchased beginning October 17. The NH Drama Parents & Friends Association will also have raffle basket items available in the lobby during intermission to raise funds for the drama program at North Hills.
