 The North Hills High School Drama Club has received six nominations for the prestigious Gene Kelly Awards for its spring production of "Mamma Mia!," recognizing excellence across multiple aspects of the performance.
North Hills earned nominations in the following categories:
Launched in 1991, the Gene Kelly Awards celebrate outstanding achievement in high school musical theater throughout Allegheny County. Over the past three months, a panel of adjudicators, including educators, administrators, and industry professionals, attended performances at 34 high schools. Final scoring was tabulated by Deloitte LLP, the program’s official auditor. The 2026 Gene Kelly Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 23 at the Benedum Center. The event will feature group performances by students from participating schools, along with medleys showcasing nominees for Outstanding Actor and Actress. In addition to more than 34 awards, several cash prizes and university scholarships will be presented.
 On Friday evening, April 24, the North Hills High School Drama Club celebrates student talent and achievement in the annual Showcase. The student-run program features performances by members of the drama club and includes a group finale number. As part of the program, students who are joining the International Thespian Society will be inducted, 2026-27 officers will be introduced, and the class of 2026 seniors will be recognized. It begins at 7pm in the high school auditorium.
The North Hills High School Music Department's annual performance tour took them to Orlando, Florida for performances at Disney. The Marching Band paraded around the World Showcase at Epcot while the Tour Choir and String Orchestra performed on the Waterside Stage at Disney Springs. In addition to the performances, members of the music department were able to enjoy park time at Walt Disney World, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. Including staff and chaperones, nearly 350 participated in the tour, traveling on 7 Campbell Tour buses.

The North Hills High School Drama Club presents the 2026 spring musical production of "Mamma Mia!" Performances will take place at 7:30pm on March 13-14 & 19-21 and at 1:30pm on March 15 in the North Hills High School auditorium. All seats are reserved and can be purchased at nhchoiranddrama.net beginning February 13, 2026. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens.
