Music Department Announces 2016 Performance Tour
The North Hills High School Music Department is pleased to announce its 2016 performance tour to compete in the Music in the Parks festival at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. All of our performing ensembles will participate for competitive rating: Marching Band, Symphonic Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Women's Choir, Symphonic Choir, and North Hills Singers.

Parent Chaperone Info
Any parent wishing to chaperone the trip must complete a chaperone packet, including current Act 34, Act 151, and FBI clearances. Once the packet is completed and turned in to the Activities Office, names will be submitted to the school board for approval. If you are interested in joining us as a chaperone, please complete this paperwork as soon as possible. Our goal is to have the list of names submitted by no later than the December legislative meeting. Contact Activities Coordinator Chelle Zimmerman with any questions.

916 CHAPERONES FOR OVERNIGHT FIELD TRIPS

- The Board requires Act 34, Act 151 and FBI clearances for all chaperones of overnight field trips who are not employees of the district. If, under the pertinent laws or regulations, the chaperone’s criminal history report would preclude him/her from being hired as an employee, that person may not be a chaperone.
- Chaperones will assume all costs associated with Act 34, Act 151, and FBI clearances.
- It shall be the responsibility of the building principal or his/her designee to ensure that these clearances are on file in the personnel records located in the district office.
- Personnel records for chaperones shall meet the same confidentiality requirements as that of an employee.
- Chaperones are expected to comply with all rules and regulations set forth by the district.
- Chaperones shall at no time assume responsibility for complete direction and/or control of the students.

- The Board requires Act 34, Act 151 and FBI clearances for all volunteers who will spend time with North Hills School District students on a scheduled basis or who will be in a room with students anytime when there is not a school district employee present. If, under the pertinent laws or regulations, the volunteer’s criminal history report would preclude him/her from being hired as an employee, that person may not be a volunteer.
- Volunteers will assume all costs associated with Act 34, Act 151 and FBI clearances.
- It shall be the responsibility of the building principal or his/her designee to ensure that these clearances are on file in the personnel records located in the district office.
- Personnel records for volunteers shall meet the same confidentiality requirements as that of an employee.
- Volunteers are expected to comply with all rules and regulations set forth by the District.
- Classroom volunteers and volunteer coaches of interscholastic athletic teams shall at no time assume responsibility for complete direction and/or control of the students. Volunteer coaches of club sport programs are permitted to assume responsibility for complete direction and/or control of the students.
- Anyone wishing to volunteer must have proper documentation and Board approval before they may begin their assignment.
- It is preferred that volunteers are four years removed from the high school setting.
- All new coaches or sponsors are required to complete prerequisite training. However, individual exemptions may be approved on an as-needed basis. Requests for exemptions will be submitted to the Director of Athletics and Activities.
