Spring Musical: "Alice by Heart"

2/21/2025

Picture
The North Hills High School Drama Club’s annual spring musical will be presented Friday-Saturday, March 21-22 and Thursday-Saturday, March 27-29 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  All seats are reserved and tickets are available beginning Feb. 26.  The cost is $12 for adults and $7 for students and senior citizens.

About “Alice by Heart”

From the Tony® and Grammy® award-winning creators of “Spring Awakening,” Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (“Waitress”), “Alice by Heart” is a touching musical inspired by “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland."

In the rubble of the London Blitz of World War II, Alice Spencer’s budding teen life is turned upside down, and she and her dear friend Alfred are forced to take shelter in an underground tube station. When the ailing Alfred is quarantined, Alice encourages him to escape with her into their cherished book and journey down the rabbit hole to Wonderland.

As they travel through the tale, “Alice by Heart” explores the poignancy of first love, coming to terms with loss, and finding the courage to move forward. This world premiere musical encourages us all to celebrate the transformational power of the imagination, even in the harshest of times.

Cabaret Night: 2/21

2/12/2025

Picture
North Hills High School Choirs will present the 14th annual Cabaret Night on Friday, February 21 at 7 p.m.
The high school cafeteria will be transformed into a casual coffee shop-style environment with an “open mic night” feel. All songs performed are selected by students in the choirs and represent a wide variety of musical styles. They will be performed as solos, duets and small groups, and sung with tracks, keyboards, guitars, or a cappella.

Cabaret Night serves as a fundraiser for the Choral Parents Association, helping to support choir students' participation in the high school music department performance tour to Cedar Point & the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this spring.

Admission is $5 cash at the door, which includes refreshments provided by choral families.

NHMS presents "Seussical Jr."

1/7/2025

North Hills Middle School Drama Club presents the 2025 winter musical production of Seussical Jr. on Thursday-Saturday, January 30-February 1 at 7pm in the middle school auditorium.  Nearly 100 students in grades 6-8 come together to for the annual show as cast, running/set crew, hair/make-up crew, and light/sound crew members, ushers, as well as several high school student directors.

All seats are reserved and can be purchased beginning January 18 by clicking the links below through HomeTown Ticketing (the same ticketing platform used for athletic events).  Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens (65+).  All audience members are asked to enter the building using the library entrance.  Doors open at 6:30pm on the night of each performance, and parents will have congratulatory gifts for sale in the lobby upon arrival.

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical Jr., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird.  Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him.  Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
