DisneySings! Choral Workshop
After a long bus ride and day at Hollywood Studios, our choir members participated in a 2 and a half hour workshop in the backstage area of Epcot from 9:15-11:45PM. Our teaching artist, Todd, who is originally from Pennsylvania and holds a music degree from Penn State, discussed what it takes to be a professional musician and performer in the entertainment industry. He then led the group through recording of voice-over sounds and rehearsing a choral arrangement of music from "The Lion King." All of the sounds and music were edited and dubbed over a video trailer for "The Lion King," which we got to view at the end of the workshop.
PLEASE do not attempt to download this video or copy it. You'll notice the very first thing that shows up is "Property of Disney - Do Not Duplicate." Posting behind a password-protected area was my solution to trying to loan the DVD out to 75 people.
Voice over sounds:
Lion growls/meows: Joe Kelly, Nick Doyle, Noah Pepmeyer
Laughing: Nate Spear, Courtney Porto, Andrew Hutmire (snorting one!)
"Pinned ya": Ashley Taylor

"Weee!": Matt Plazek
Timon & Pumbaa crying: Mr. Cloonan
Soloists in the song:

Simba: Noah Pepmeyer
Nala: Courtney Porto

While we were waiting for the video to be edited (we didn't know that's what we were doing at the time), Todd taught the group some movement that he called "arm-ography" to the music that they use during the Main Street parade in Magic Kingdom. Here is a video that Mr. Cloonan recorded on his phone during the final run-through of the routine that was learned. (Not sure why, but the video uploaded in a reverse image. They were standing in the exact opposite order from what is shown in the video.)
