For the second year, our NHHS Women’s Choir will participate in a regional women’s choral festival. The day, which began as an outreach by the University of Pittsburgh Women’s Choral Ensemble several years ago, was originally just a showcase of college and university groups. Over the years, it has expanded to include high school and community choirs and has changed locations from Heinz Chapel to Seton Hill University to its current home at the First Presbyterian Church of Edgewood. Featured on the festival this year are the Duquesne University Pappert Women’s Chorale, the Pitt Women’s Choral Ensemble, Belle Voci community choir, Czarica Milica Serbian Women’s Choir, and our own group.
Details you need to know: the NH ladies are to report to the high school as close to 12 noon as possible on Sunday, November 8 wearing their concert black and white. We’ll get our robes from the choir room and then load buses by 12:30 so that we are at the church by close to 1:00, when we will have our warm-up time in the sanctuary. The concert itself begins at 3:00 in the FPCE Sanctuary and is free and open to the public. Parents and families are certainly welcome to come out and watch, but by no means are required! We plan to take the buses back to school afterward. However, if you plan to take your daughter home, just make sure I know and that they have made arrangements for their robe to be brought back to school after the concert. The performance runs about an hour and 15 minutes, and the church is about a 30 minute drive from school. Those returning on the bus should arrive back at school around 5:00 and can meet you for pick-up after they have returned their robes to the choir room. I know that we have several students involved in the Fall Play tech rehearsal. I’ve spoken to most of them as well as the play directors. As long as they can arrange transportation to the church, they can go to the rehearsal at school from 1:00-2:30 and get to the church by 3:00 in time for the program to start. I’ve requested that we go 3rd or 4th on the program to allow for those arriving late. Those students just need to make sure either they have their robe with them or that someone has gotten it for them and that a seat has been left for them to sneak in after the program begins. The church address is 120 East Swissvale Avenue, and directions can be found at www.fpcedgewood.org. Click here to download the bus permission form Comments are closed.

About the NHHS CHORALEThe Chorale (formerly the Women’s Choir) is open to any girl in grades 9 through 12 who would like to be in a singing ensemble. Auditions are not required. Mostly made up of Freshmen and Sophomores, the Chorale performs on all high school concerts along with the Symphonic Choir and also collaborates with them on special performances of larger works with the bands or orchestra. Girls already in Symphonic Choir may also elect to take this course if schedules permit. Chorale members may also participate in the Madrigal Choir. |
