Symphonic choir

collage concert reminders

10/11/2018

For our upcoming Fall Collage Concert:

Monday, October 15 - 2:15-3:15PM, Room B119
Combined Choirs in the Choir Room.  We'll start with everyone, go through "Dark Night," "Hymn to the Fallen," and "I Love My Love."  Women's Choir will then be excused so that Symphonic Choir can go over "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble."  Then Symphonic will be excused so that North Hills Singers can quickly run (if needed) "My Spirit Sang All Day" and "Harvest."

Tuesday, October 16 - 2:15-3:15PM, MS Auditorium
All band, choir, and orchestra members will meet in the high school lobby right after school.  As soon as the buses depart, we will walk over together to the middle school, using the main entrance.  The order of the rehearsal will be "Hymn to the Fallen" with combined choirs and wind ensemble.  Then wind ensemble will be excused and chamber strings will come on stage to rehearse "Dark Night of the Soul."  Chamber Strings will then be excused so combined choirs can run "I Love My Love" on stage together.  Then Women's Choir will be dismissed so that Symphonic can run "Double, Double."  Symphonic will then be dismissed so that North Hills Singers can figure out standing arrangements and quickly run their pieces.

Wednesday, October 17 - CONCERT NIGHT
All choir members should wear their concert black and white (Singers wear black & red uniforms) and report to the middle school auditorium at 6:30PM to line up and warm up.  At 6:55, we will walk down the band hallway to enter the stage and take our places on the risers.

Concert order is:
  1. Combined Choirs - "I Love My Love"
  2. Wind Ensemble plays their first tune while choirs stand quietly behind them
  3. WE & Choirs perform "Hymn to the Fallen"
  4. Choirs exit
  5. Wind Ensemble performs one more song
  6. Symphonic comes on as WE exits and sings "Double Double"
  7. Wind Symphony enters as Symphonic exits
  8. Wind Symphony plays their 3 songs
  9. North Hills Singers enter as Wind Symphony exits
  10. Singers perform "My Spirit Sang" and "Harvest"
  11. Chamber Strings enter as Singers exit
  12. Chamber plays 2 songs
  13. Combined Choirs come on stage and we perform "Dark Night"
  14. Choirs & Strings exit stage and return to seats as Allegheny Brass Band sets up
  15. Allegheny Brass Band plays 2 or 3 songs
  16. Concert ends and all leave with their families

    About the NHHS Symphonic Choir

The Symphonic Choir is the mixed vocal ensemble of the high school choral program.  All 9-12 boys, and junior and senior girls are a part of this ensemble. Symphonic Choir members may also audition for the extra-curricular North Hills Singers, and may participate in the Madrigal Choir.  The Symphonic Choir has performed with the River City Brass on their holiday concerts, with the Wind Ensemble on combined classical works like Carmina Burana, and collaborated with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on their landmark "Singing City" concert in April 2013 in a massed choir of over 1,500 voices.
