ALL choir families are asked to donate 2 dozen cookies. Cookies can be brought in to school on the day of the event and left in the choir room or delivered to the cafeteria by 4 p.m. We have created an online sign-up for volunteer, donation, and other needs for the evening. Monday, October 15 - 2:15-3:15PM, Room B119 Combined Choirs in the Choir Room. We'll start with everyone, go through "Dark Night," "Hymn to the Fallen," and "I Love My Love." Women's Choir will then be excused so that Symphonic Choir can go over "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble." Then Symphonic will be excused so that North Hills Singers can quickly run (if needed) "My Spirit Sang All Day" and "Harvest." Tuesday, October 16 - 2:15-3:15PM, MS Auditorium All band, choir, and orchestra members will meet in the high school lobby right after school. As soon as the buses depart, we will walk over together to the middle school, using the main entrance. The order of the rehearsal will be "Hymn to the Fallen" with combined choirs and wind ensemble. Then wind ensemble will be excused and chamber strings will come on stage to rehearse "Dark Night of the Soul." Chamber Strings will then be excused so combined choirs can run "I Love My Love" on stage together. Then Women's Choir will be dismissed so that Symphonic can run "Double, Double." Symphonic will then be dismissed so that North Hills Singers can figure out standing arrangements and quickly run their pieces. Wednesday, October 17 - CONCERT NIGHT All choir members should wear their concert black and white (Singers wear black & red uniforms) and report to the middle school auditorium at 6:30PM to line up and warm up. At 6:55, we will walk down the band hallway to enter the stage and take our places on the risers. Concert order is:

Choir Officer Descriptions President Makes announcements with Vice President at the beginning of concerts, organizes student participation in the annual madrigal dinner (student directs the skit, helps figure out costuming, recruits servers), assists VP in planning of Cabaret night. Coordinates a choir social event with other officers, helps to figure out food for extended rehearsals on weekends or days off. Vice President Makes announcements with President at concerts, organizes student participation in the annual Cabaret Night (oversees auditions, helps to select program order, recruits volunteers for set-up and clean-up), assists President in planning of Madrigal Dinner and coordination of choir social event as well as food for extended rehearsals. Treasurer Signs check requests when requested by the director, oversees the collection of money and purchase of supplies for a choir social event coordinated by all officers, organizes payment of food at extended rehearsals along with other officers. Librarian Coordinates collection of music after concerts and reshelving in the choral library, helps to maintain the choral library inventory spreadsheet, recruits help in organizing the library at the end of the year. Uniform Coordinator Works with Mr. Cloonan to assure that all members have an assigned robe, that the robes are hung in an orderly fashion in the robe room, and that any additional uniform items (North Hills Singers) are handled either by having Mr. Cloonan order them or using what is in stock and assigning as needed. |
About the NHHS Symphonic ChoirThe Symphonic Choir is the mixed vocal ensemble of the high school choral program. All 9-12 boys, and junior and senior girls are a part of this ensemble. Symphonic Choir members may also audition for the extra-curricular North Hills Singers, and may participate in the Madrigal Choir. The Symphonic Choir has performed with the River City Brass on their holiday concerts, with the Wind Ensemble on combined classical works like Carmina Burana, and collaborated with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on their landmark "Singing City" concert in April 2013 in a massed choir of over 1,500 voices. |
