Dear Drama Club members and parents,
In March 2018, the North Hills Drama Club will present the musical "Dames at Sea." On Thursday, November 16, there will be an informational meeting for all interested students so they can learn about the production, preparations for auditions and working on the crew. For those wanting to audition, there will be basic dance training and time to practice. The meeting is open to all students in grades 9-12 and will be held in the auditorium from 2:15 until 4:00 pm. If you have any questions, please respond to this email, or feel free to contact Mr. Richey directly at [email protected] or 412-369-8114. 2017-18 Drama Club Parent Coordinators Dear "Pride and Prejudice" Cast and Crew Parents,
First of all, we're sure we are all in agreement that the kids are doing a phenomenal job up on stage and behind the scenes! This fantastic show would not be possible without your support. Thank you for all your efforts! Second, some of the information in this email may already be familiar to you--but we wanted to put the details about show weekend in one place! Please reach out with any questions or concerns by responding to this email. Please note that the Richeys are the source for information about call times and other technical details related to the performances. These are just some "social" details that not all families may be aware of. Friday night--Montecellos: As you might know, the sudden closing of TGI Friday's has changed the tradition of the kids going there post-show (and eliminated our fundraiser!) Instead, the kids have decided that they want to go to Montecellos on Babcock Boulevard after the Friday show. This is definitely not a mandatory activity, but a number of cast and crew members will be going. Parents can drop off, or stay and get their own table...it's entirely your choice. If you are dropping your child off, please make sure they have cash and understand the practice of tipping. They will probably be finished around 11:30-12:00, based on previous years' experience. Saturday afternoon--break between shows. There will be a break of a couple hours between the Saturday matinee and the Saturday evening show. Some of the kids pack a lunch and stay at the school. Some leave, and either go home or get food locally. This is entirely up to your family! But it's a very long day so please make sure your child has something to eat and drink. We want everyone to feel good and have energy for the evening show! Saturday night--cast party. Following the Saturday performance, the cast party will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 157 Peony Avenue (across the street from Highcliff Elementary). We will be serving pizza, chips and other snacks, and bottled water. Since the kids won't be arriving until 10:30 pm, we think a reasonable end time is 12:30 am. If picking your child up at 12:30, please feel free to pitch in and help clean up! The party is very low-key and we are not decorating, but we do want to leave the church the way we found it. Thanks to the Margo family for securing this space for us! Again, if you have any questions about any of the activities this weekend, please respond to this email--or find Cindy Fusco or Maureen Pearson in the lobby. Thanks again for all the support and volunteer hours you are dedicating to this show. It is greatly appreciated! 2017-18 Drama Club Parent Coordinators Dear Cast and Crew Parents,
This Wednesday at 3:15 pm, the North Hills Drama Club will be hosting its parent preview performance of "Pride and Prejudice" in the high school auditorium. This is a great opportunity to see the play a day early, and it provides the kids with a chance to perform in front of a live audience before the official opening on Thursday evening. We hope you can attend! The preview performance should be over by 5:30 pm. If planning to arrive early, please be aware that the school parking lot will be closed from about 2:45 to 3:00 pm as the middle school buses are being loaded. It's suggested that you don't arrive until 3:00 pm, when the parking lot should be clear. Please respond to this email with any questions, and we hope to see you on Wednesday! 2017-18 Drama Club Parent Coordinators Dear Cast, Crew, and Parents, With only a week remaining until the North Hills Drama Club's production of "Pride and Prejudice," there are many fundraising opportunities coming up that will help defer the costs of this play and the spring musical, "Dames at Sea." We need your help to capitalize on these opportunities and support the Drama Club! Here is a quick overview of what's coming up, and the support we will need from the cast and crew families: Lottery ticket gift basket donations. Please send at least a $1 lottery scratch-off ticket with your cast or crew member to one of the two dress rehearsals this weekend. (Larger donations are welcome.) These tickets will be used to assemble a lottery ticket gift basket that will be raffled off in the lobby, with tickets sold during every performance. Gift basket raffles represent a huge fundraising source! Attached is a letter explaining this basket from Heather Margo, who is doing an amazing job of coordinating the gift baskets this year. Cookie donations for the lobby at every show. We ask that every cast and crew family bring 2 dozen cookies to the lobby on their assigned date (see attached list). These cookies will be offered to audience members at intermission for a suggested cash donation. Again, this is an important fundraiser and would not be possible without the generosity of our cast and crew families. We will send daily reminders because we know it's easy to forget your assigned day during the busy show weekend. TGI Friday's restaurant fundraiser, Friday, November 10. The cast and crew traditionally go to TGI Friday's after the Friday night performance. We have scheduled a fundraiser that day so 20 percent of our sales go directly to the North Hills Drama Club! Please bring the attached flyer; we will also have coupons on site at the restaurant. Please encourage your family and friends to also visit TGI Friday's that day and use the flyer to donate a portion of their check. Chipotle restaurant fundraiser, Tuesday, November 14. We are also hosting a fundraiser at the Chipotle at 4861 McKnight Road on Tuesday, November 14, between 4:00 and 8:00 pm. 50 percent of our sales go directly to the Drama Club! You can bring the attached flyer or simply tell the cashier that you are supporting the North Hills Drama Club fundraiser. Again, please encourage your family and friends to visit Chipotle that day to support the club. Thanks in advance for your support over the next couple of weeks. The Drama Club would not be successful without your efforts. If you have any other fundraising ideas, please share them with us at [email protected]. We are always looking for new ideas! 2017-18 Drama Club Parent Coordinators
