Senior Banquet Interest Survey

4/23/2018

THIS IS NOT A COMMITMENT TO ATTEND NOR A RESERVATION - JUST AN INFORMATION GATHERING SURVEY.

We've had several folks ask about a senior banquet this year.  We are happy to coordinate the program/event again this year if there is enough interest from people in attending.  Please complete this survey within the next 2 DAYS (by WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25) so that we can determine if there will be enough senior representation and family participation to be able to hold the event.

The way we organized the banquet last year was that each senior and 2 guests were invited to attend free of charge, and any additional guests, plus underclassmen students and their families were charged $5 per person to help defray the costs of the food that the Choral Parents provided. Last year, they provided drinks, chicken, pasta, and cake, and the remainder of the side dishes/desserts were provided by choir families.  Mr. Cloonan also compiled a slide show of baby/senior pictures of each senior that we recognized.

One of the only days that is available on the calendar is Primary Election Day, Tuesday, May 15, 2018, which is a professional development day for teachers only (students are off this day).  We would hold the banquet from 6:30-8:30PM in the High School Cafeteria.

Drama Club Gala - April 27

4/13/2018

Picture
North Hills High School Drama Club will present its annual Gala student showcase on April 27 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission is $5 at the door, with proceeds benefiting the drama club’s fall play and spring musical productions.

The Gala program is almost entirely student-run – from selection of materials to auditions and rehearsals to stage management. Drama Club members will sing songs from Broadway musicals, present dance routines, and act out scenes from plays, musicals, or movies.

In addition, 8 students will be recognized for achieving membership into the International Thespian Society (ITS), the honor society for secondary school theatre students. Membership is granted based on achievements in the school's theatre program, such as participation in any aspect of the fall play or spring musical productions. Thespian troupes include students in grades 9-12 who have completed at least 100 hours of excellent work.  Students continue to earn ITS points beyond induction to achieve progressively higher honors.  Academic achievement is rewarded as well - a GPA of 3.0 earns inductees the first of the three ITS scholar distinctions.  Including recent alumni and this year's inductees, the North Hills ITS Troupe has 52 members.

University of Illinois at NH Tonight!

4/12/2018

Hello Choir Families,

This is just a reminder that everyone is invited to a free concert this evening at 7:00PM in the Middle School auditorium.  The University of Illinois wind ensemble and chamber singers will present a concert as part of their tour to New York City, where they will perform at Carnegie Hall.  Several of our choir families will join the instrumental families in hosting and housing their members overnight before they continue their travel to NYC tomorrow morning.

Additionally, our own NH wind ensemble will open the concert by performing the pieces that they will perform at the PMEA State Conference in Lancaster next week.

If you are free and able to attend, we'd love to have a full audience to welcome our guests to North Hills.  Below is the complete news release we put out on social media a few days ago.

Have a great weekend.

Mr. Cloonan
